Hello and welcome to my newest website. I am so excited you are here! Above all, I am sooooooooo excited to share my yin yoga journey with you. You see, Yin saved me once. While you may sense a tad bit of drama in that statement, to me it really felt like a saving. I am not ashamed to say that my practice of yin yoga saved me in ways in which nothing else could at one time in my life. My love for yin runs very deep indeed.

It was a time in my life where I was in a bad place. For starters, a loving, romantic relationship was unraveling before my eyes (again!). Add to this that I was in a deep personal crisis in which I no longer knew who I was and I mean that literally because I would ask myself, “who am I?” and rather than the answers arising that I once knew so confidently, panic would set in. For what felt like an eternity, I had ZERO answers to the question “who am I?” and found myself completely lost in a sea of confusion, fear, and emotional pain. There were a few other major life issues going on with my family and career, but I’m sure you very much get the idea that I was in a bad place.
So… I started practicing yin yoga.
When I started my yin yoga practice, I didn’t really know at the time why I need to practice Yin other than that I felt profoundly compelled to do it and so I did.
And so I began, in earnest, my yin yoga practice.
Sharing my Yin Journey
I named my practice “Yin Yoga Journey” because nearly instantly, by doing Yin, I changed my life in profound, magnificent ways. This is precisely why I decided to start a blog and share my yoga insights, advice, and tidbits of yogic wisdom with you. The continuous unfoldment of incredible changes from yin was unceasing and strung together in ways that blew me away. “My goodness!” I thought, “there really is so much grace in this world.” This is just one of the amazing realizations my yin yoga journey gave me.
There were even more gifts I received from practicing Yin. Many more gifts. So many, indeed, that it blew my mind in an amazing, really good way.
For me, Yin created openness and movement in my body, my mind, my very beingness. When I practiced yin, it relieved my emotional pain even at the worst of times. Yin calmed me, centered me, and gave me greater space from which to experience my thoughts and feelings. Whereas I once did yin yoga for 20 minutes or so with an occasional 60-minute session, on this journey I began to practice for an hour. Then I extended into an hour and a half and my next goal is two hours. These once unimaginable time commitments became essential to my wellness and wellbeing. I said it once already and will say it again and again and again, my Yin Yoga Practice literally saved my life, and I could not be more grateful.
Then, during one of these early yin sessions, the idea came to me to share my journey with others so they, too, could understand what yin is and what it can do for them. And so here we are, together via the magic of the internet. I am happy to connect with you and honored to have you as my guest.

Mindfulness: Taking a balanced approach to negative emotions so that feelings are neither suppressed nor exaggerated. We cannot ignore our pain and feel compassion for it at the same time. Mindfulness requires that we not “overidentify” with thoughts and feelings, so that we are not caught up and swept away by negativity. – Daring Greatly pg 132/291
